The Delivery

Everything started well on Thursday evening around 5 pm. As expected, contractions we slowly becoming more regular and intense. By 9 pm, we had checked into the Wesley Medical Center to begin the labor phase.

The delivery was a textbook example of how this should happen. Katarina came out perfect in every way.

Soon after Katarina came into the world, Jacqui had some bleeding complications. This concern caused the medical team at the Wesley Medical Center to take swift action and soon Jacqui was undergoing a procedure to stop the bleeding. The solution was to block the blood supply to the uterus. Within 24 hours, everything was under control and Jacqui was well on her way to a quick recovery. Thank you to all of those who generously donate their blood. She will be closely monitored over the next few months.

Both mum and daughter were released from the hospital Sunday Jul 17th to spend the rest of the weekend with papá, the "abuelitos" (Grandparents) and cousin Aisha.
